Sounds of Brooklyn groove came pouring out of the 16th floor of this Park Ave high rise that sunny June afternoon. In a last minute swing, the team at xLab and Humans of Pride pulled together a launch event and fundraiser in partner with Pernod Ricard and Absolut that would carry the city wide production through to the finish line.
Geared up with a set of Technic SL-1200 turntables, a couple crates of underground vinyls by Brooklyns own DJ Mak, and a mega phone, we brought together over 150 people for what turned out to be an inspiring program for all.
Since the fundraiser for was the Humans of Pride documentary, we figured why not film an interview on site for the film to give that authentic behind the scenes experience. So xLab brought along two Sony FS7 cinema rigs, and that’s what we did.
Filmed on the rooftop of the Pernod Ricard building in midtown Manhattan, with Time Square’s skyline in the background, our interview soon evolved into a beautiful photo shoot shot by John Rossi on the Sony A7RII.
